Join us for a Bird Walk
Saturday, November 9th
You are invited to join us for a Bird Walk on Saturday, November 9th at 8:00 AM at Save the Bay Center and Coastal Greenway in Providence. Lower your stress and enjoy watching the birds!
It’s early fall and ducks, gulls, and possibly some seabirds are starting to arrive on Narragansett Bay. The early birds may be stopping off on their way to more southerly locations. Others will be moving inland to ponds, staying there until the water freezes over.
Save the Bay has kindly given us permission to have a small group of birders visit the property (they don’t usually allow groups, just individuals).
Please RSVP HERE We will keep to a limited number of participants, about 15. Very important: There are no bathroom facilities open to the public.
Meeting spot:
100 Save the Bay Drive, Providence, RI 02905
To access the Save the Bay location, one must drive through the Johnson and Wales Harborside Campus, over speed bumps to get to Save the Bay Drive. See this online map of Johnson and Wales Harborside lower on this web page https://www.jwu.edu/campuses/providence/about-jwu-providence/directions-locale.html
Please meet at the far side of Save the Bay parking lot away from the boat launch.

Please dress for the weather – layers as the morning warms up and insect repellant for tick bite prevention. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have a couple extra ones on hand if you do not. (Please no kids or pets) If the walk needs to be cancelled due to weather, please check your email on the morning of the walk.
We want to show you that you can go birding anywhere, not only at wildlife refuges and not just in your own backyard but anywhere.
Thank you to the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island for coming during Octopalooza!
They have left some information for us to give out: their contact number 7 days a week, how you can become a volunteer, and how you can support them by purchasing a RI Wildlife Clinic design license plate!
If you find an injured or abandoned wild animal in Rhode Island, what can you do? The Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island is a non-profit group of specially-trained, licensed rehabilitators. Over 6000 wild patients are treated there every year, from baby birds and injured birds to reptiles, mammals and as large as White-tailed deer fawns. Each requires a special diet and separation from other species for their recovery. The rehabbers go through training courses to learn the special diet and handling of the animals. The goal is always to release the animal back into the wild.
We encourage you to support this huge effort and help with a donation. Many of our customers who love birds and wildlife are already on their list of supporters. You can help out by giving a donation to them or purchasing something on their wishlist.
